프렌즈 시즌2: 14화 영어 표현 go with something, He's her lobster!

 

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 8회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 처음에는  10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 2: 14화 "졸업 파티 비디오" 줄거리 ▼

돈을 벌게 된 조이는 812달러와 금팔찌를 챈들러에게 선물해 줍니다. 모니카는 새 직장에 취업하기 위해 요리를 선보이고, 면접관의 행동이 이상해서 면접을 관둡니다. 레이첼은 영화관에서 만난 남자 케이시에게 연락이 오고, 이를 받은 로스는 메시지를 전달하지 않습니다. 모니카는 면접에 합격하지 못하면서 집세를 형편이 안 되고, 챈들러는 커피 하우스에서 만난 여자가 금팔찌를 보고 도망가자 화를 내다가 이 모습을 조이에게 들킵니다. 챈들러는 조이에게 사과하려다 팔찌를 잃어버렸단 사실을 알게 되고, 커피하우스에서 발견한 팔찌와 새로 맞춘 팔찌 두 개를 가지고 사이좋게 하나씩 조이와 나눠가집니다. 친구들은 모니카의 졸업 파티 비디오를 보게 되고, 과거 로스가 레이첼에게 함께 프롬 파티에 가려고 하려다 실패한 영상도 보게 됩니다. 그 모습을 본 레이첼은 그간의 화는 잊었다는 듯이  로스에게 키스합니다. 

After getting his big break with Days of Our Lives, Joey pays Chandler back with $812 and gives him an engraved gold bracelet that Chandler thinks makes him look gay. Joey's feelings are hurt when he overhears Chandler complaining about it. Also, an unemployed Monica is hard up for money. A home video from Monica and Rachel's prom night reveals that Monica was previously overweight and Rachel had a large nose. Rachel's date, Chip, seemed to have stood her up, so Ross donned his father's tuxedo to take her to the prom, though Chip showed up at the last minute without Rachel knowing what Ross did. Rachel, overwhelmed by Ross's gesture, kisses him.

How long has he been talking to her?

She's a waitress, not a geisha.
카페 직원을 저렇게 오래 붙잡고 있어도 돼?

Phoebe: I think she's okay.
레이첼은 괜찮은가 본데

Ross: Look at that!

Rachel: Ross, there is no 'us', okay?
로스, 이제 우리란 건 없어

Ross: No, but...

Rachel: No! Listen to me!
