프렌즈 시즌6: 11화 영어 표현 get together, one of a kind

 

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 8회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 구동사도 추가했지요. 처음에는 10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 6: 11화 "커플 커플" 줄거리 ▼

조이의 룸메이트이자 연인이 된 재닌과 더블 데이트를 하는 몬들러 커플! 그러나 재닌은 챈들러와 모니카 커플이 마음에 들지 않는 눈치입니다. 이틀 연속으로 그들과 더블 데이트를 하지 못하겠다는에요. 챈들러는 너무 말을 많이 하고, 모니카는 자그마한 체구에 비해 너무 시끄럽다는 얘기였죠. 한편, 레이첼은 비싼 가구를 사고도 피비의 눈치가 보여서 플리마켓에서 산 거라고 속입니다. 과연 피비는 그 사실을 알게 될까요?

Janine and Joey are finally dating, only for Janine to tell Joey she does not like Monica and Chandler, forcing him to choose. Meanwhile, Rachel buys an apothecary table from Pottery Barn, a store that Phoebe hates, then pretends she bought it at a flea market. Her story is blown when Phoebe sees the same table at Ross' apartment.

Phoebe: Come on. I think he's ready
to get rid of the, what'd you call it,
the cheap knockoffs and dinosaur junk?

Well, are you saying that you
would move out if I didn't buy that lamp?

Rachel: Well, no. I'm not going to move out!

Phoebe: But are you saying 
that you would move out 
if I didn't buy that lamp?

Rachel: Yes! I would so move out.

Phoebe: Okay, then I don't have a choice.
I have to buy that lamp!

Rachel: That's right.

Phoebe: (가다가 돌아서며)
But at least the apothecary table's real.

Ross, she's not weird. She just likes her stuff to be one-of-a-kind. (로스가 피비가 이상하다고 하자, 그저 유일무이한 것을 좋아하는 것 뿐이라며 피비를 지지해주는 레이첼)
I know. She says it’s all mass-produced, nothing is authentic, and everyone winds up* having the same stuff. 대량 생산품만 쓰게되면, 모두 똑같은 것만 쓰게 될 거래. 피비가 포터리반을 싫어한다면서 로스에게 알려주는 레이첼
*wind up: Wind up 은 결국, 어떻게 되다. 어떤 상태로 끝이 나다. 결말이 나다라는 뜻인데요. 특정한 행위나 일의 결과로 생기는 상황을 묘사하는 겁니다. 특히 예상하지도 못한 좋지 않은 사건이 벌어지는 경우에 자주 쓰입니다.
