프렌즈 시즌1: 3화 영어표현 put it out, indeed

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 9회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 구동사도 추가했지요. 처음에는 10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 1: 3화 "모니카의 남자친구" 줄거리 ▼

모니카는 남자친구 앨런을 소개하는데, 친구들이 너무 마음에 들어합니다. 문제는 그들이 앨런을 너무 마음에 들어했죠. 결국 모니카는 앨런과 헤어지게 되는데, 친구들이 매우 아쉬워합니다. 피비는 은행에 500달러가 잘 못 입금되어 바로잡으려 했다가 사과의 표시로 또다른 500달러가 생깁니다. 대체 어느 은행이죠?!

Monica is dismayed that everyone likes her new boyfriend, Alan, more than she does. Chandler starts smoking again. When the gang complains, he diverts the attention onto their own flaws. Phoebe's bank accidentally deposits a large sum into her bank account. When she reports the error, the bank gives her an additional amount. She gives the money to her homeless friend, who buys her a can of soda in return, only to find a severed thumb inside it. Phoebe uses the money the soda company compensated her to pay Chandler to quit smoking.

All right, I'm putting it out. 잘 참다가 다시 흡연하는 챈들러에게 친구들이 담배 끄라며 (put it out) 이야기 하고, 챈들러가 알겠다며 담배를 피비의 커피 잔 안에 떨구며 끈다.
Let it go, Ross. 애완견 치치의 진실을 알게된 로스가 속상해하자 조이가 위로한다
