프렌즈 시즌3 : 10화 영어 표현 sounds doable, put someone down, no offense, give my notice

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 8회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 처음에는  10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 3: 10화 "레이첼, 직장 그만두다" 줄거리 ▼

커피하우스 입사 2년 반이 넘었지만 신규 교육을 다시 받게 된 레이첼은 조이와 챈들러의 조언에 따라 직장을 그만두고 열정이 있는 패션 분야에 입사지원 하기로 합니다. 그러나 생각처럼 되지 않는 이직에 레이첼의 초조함은 극에 달하고, 때마침 조이가 전달해준 패션 회사 공석에 지원하게 되면서 합격합니다.

로스는 실수로 브라운 버드 소녀, 사라의 다리를 다치게 만들고, 그녀의 목표인 스페이스 캠프를 위해서 대신 쿠키를 팔아줍니다. 한 박스당 5달러 하는 쿠키를 팔기 위해 친구들에게도 박물관에서도 아파트 곳곳을 돌아다니며 쿠키를 파는 로스, 과연 가장 많이 쿠키를 팔 수 있었을까요?

When Gunther tells Rachel that she has to undergo retraining despite having worked at the coffee shop for two and a half years, she becomes fed up and ultimately quits upon heeding Chandler's and Joey's advice on taking the fear from being unemployed in order to pursue her passion in fashion. Both men then lend out a helping hand in her job search - Chandler helps her in preparing her resumḗs, while Joey gets her a job lead at Fortunata Fashions (FF) with the help of his father. She eventually gets hired at FF, but her happiness is short-lived when she finds out the job still requires her to do waitressing. Phoebe helps Joey with selling Christmas trees, but becomes disconcerted after learning that the old and unused trees get thrown into a chipper. Monica and Joey then decide to buy all those trees in order to appease Phoebe. Ross accidentally breaks a little girl's leg, and then attempts to make it up to her by helping her sell Brown Bird cookies to people (including Monica who gets addicted to "Mint Treasures" cookies all over again) in order to help her win a trip to Space Camp. When he does not win the trip in the end, he decides to give the girl an unprecedented private Space Camp experience with the help of Chandler and Joey.

Without even trying, I sold 50 boxes.

That's when it occurred to me.

So, I started hitting the NYU dorms
around midnight.
I am selling cookies by the case.

They call me "Cookie Dude!"

1. a thick, sweet food made from sugar cooked with the white parts of eggs, usually containing nuts and sometimes fruit. It can be hard enough to cut in pieces, or soft and used to fill chocolates, cakes, etc. :

• Turron is a traditional Spanish confection made of nougat.
• He left the children gifts of nougat and lollipops.
