시트콤 <프렌즈>로 영어공부 하신다고요? 저도 벌써 7회 차 정주행하고 있어요.^^

리스닝하고, 쉐도잉하고, 이제는 어휘나 문법을 찾아보고 있죠.

 

이번 포스팅은 프렌즈 시즌4 :22화 에서 '알아두면 좋을 표현'입니다.

제가 공부하면서 알게 된 표현과 어휘를 기록해 놓는 거죠.

시즌 4: 22화 "최악의 들러리" 줄거리 ▼

레이첼과 모니카가 피비에게 베이비샤워를 열어주지만 당장 쓸 수 없는 선물을 사왔다는 이유로 화를 내고, 피비가 나중에 사과하지만 레이첼을 또다시 울립니다. 한편 로스의 들러리 자리를 놓고 챈들러와 조이 사이에서 쟁탈전이 벌어집니다. 처음엔 챈들러가 들러리였다가 조이가 들러리가 됩니다. 그리고 조이는 로스의 총각 파티를 열었다가 웨딩 링을 잃어버립니다. 스트리퍼를 의심해서 그녀를 찾아갔지만 그녀는 돈을 많이 벌어서 링을 훔칠 필요가 없었는데요. 과연 범인은 누구였을까요?^^

Rachel and Monica throw a baby shower for Phoebe, who is experiencing extreme mood swings and growing depressed about having to give up the babies after they are born. Meanwhile, Ross chooses Joey over Chandler to be his best man, but Joey accidentally loses the wedding ring after throwing a bachelor party for Ross, which features a stripper. The men then discover that the duck had eaten the ring, and take it to the vet. The ring is successfully retrieved in the end, and Ross ultimately decides to make both Chandler and Joey his best men.

seemed a tad edge yesterday at my shower.

Tad :

Rachel: Well, how is this like that?

Phoebe: Well, let's see.
It's not really like that.
Because, you see, 
that was an actual problem.
And yours is just, like, you know,
a bunch of, you know, high-school crap
that nobody really gives, you know... 

Rachel: (울먹이는 레이첼)
Well, I'm sorry. I guess I just thought--

Phoebe: All right, here come the waterworks.

1. crying:

• The show ended, and then the waterworks started.
• Whenever she gets frustrated or angry, she turns on the waterworks (= starts to cry).

 

 

 

I'm never going to get to be a best man. (로스의 결혼식 들러리로 선택받지 못한 조이, 챈들러가 자신의 웨딩에서 들러리가 되면 된다고 말하자 이렇게 대응한다)
I guess she's not going to get to keep the babies. (모니카가 자신이 사온 아이들 옷을 보면서 시무룩하게 말한다)
It just might be too hard given the history and all that. (레이첼은 로스의 결혼식에 가지 않는 이유에 대해 설명한다)
Oh, that sounds like fun, but we got a ring to find! (스트리퍼를 부를 방법을 제안한 챈들러, 이야기를 듣고 화를 내는 조이)
