프렌즈 시즌4: 5화 영어 표현 set foot in, catch a cold

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 8회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 처음에는  10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 4: 5화 "조이의 새 여자친구 " 줄거리 ▼

피비는 감기로 인해 섹시한 목소리를 가지게 되고, 노래를 부르면서 그 목소리가 나오는 것을 마음에 들어합니다. 챈들러는 조이의 새로운 여자친구 캐시에게 마음이 가고, 그 사실을 숨기려고 하지만 친구들은 이미 다 알고있습니다. 로스는 레이첼에게 보여주기 위해 어맨다를 만나는 것을 자랑하고, 레이첼은 대학생 남자와 교제하면서 로스에게 보여주기 위해 눈에 불을 켭니다. 실상은 로스는 어맨다와 데이트 하기보다는 베이비시터 역할을 더 많이 하고, 레이첼은 대학생 남자가 그녀의 돈과 물건을 훔치고 있던 상황이죠. 캐시를 향한 마음을 숨기려고 시큰둥하게 대하는 챈들러에게 조이가 친해지려고 노력하도록 부탁하고 챈들러의 짝사랑은 점점 깊어집니다. 

 *거리에서 런닝하던 캐시를 발견하고 챈들러가 인사하기 위해 쫓아가는 장면, 와이셔츠에 머스터드를 묻히고 왠갖 장애물을 넘으면서 꿋꿋하게 다가가던, 에서 챈들러의 마음을 알 수 있습니다. 아마 캐시도 그때부터 눈치를 채고 있을 겁니다. 말이라도 한번 걸어보고 싶고, 인사하고 싶은 그 마음 알 것 같습니다. :)

Phoebe has a cold that she thinks improves her singing voice, only to be frustrated when her "sexy phlegm" disappears. She then desperately tries to catch a cold again from multiple sources, including Monica and Gunther, in order to get her “sexy” voice back. Ross attempts to make Rachel jealous by dating Amanda, a beautiful woman with a child Ben's age, only to discover that she just acknowledges him as a babysitter to her child. As payback, Rachel also starts dating a cute college guy, Josh, who turns out to be immature and constantly stealing from her and the gang. Meanwhile, Chandler falls in love with Joey's new actress girlfriend, Kathy, much to the former’s dismay.
