프렌즈 시즌4 : 8화 영어 표현 saved your seat, devoid of sentiment

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 8회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 처음에는  10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 3: 8화 "추수감사절에 생긴 일" 줄거리 ▼

챈들러가 캐시와 키스한 사실을 알게 된 조이는 그에게 매우 화를 냅니다. 챈들러는 그에게 사과를 표현하기 위해 별 수를 다쓰지만  화는 풀리지 않고, 마침내 챈들러는 박스 안에 들어가서 조이에게 미안함을 표현하기로 합니다. 추수감사절 식사에 모니카가 리처드의 아들이자 안과 의사인 티모시를 데려오고, 함께 식사하면서 모니카와 키스까지 하지만 리처드가 생각나는 바람에 두 사람의 관계는 그걸로 끝이 납니다. 캐시는 작별 인사를 하러 찾아옵니다. 절친한 친구 두 사람 사이에서 연애를 하는 자신의 처지가 옳지 않다고 생각해서였죠. 그러나 챈들러는 상자 안에서 조이에게 미안함을 표현하느라 말 한마디 못하고 캐시를 작별인사를 듣고만 있게 됩니다. 그 상황을 지켜본 조이는 미안함과 챈들러에 대한 우정이 되살아나 박스를 열어 챈들러와 용서를 하고 캐시를 쫓아가도록 지지해 줍니다. 

 *캐시가 작별인사를 하러왔을때 챈들러가 조이에게 미안함을 표현하느라 말 한마디 못하고 손가락만 꼼지락 대던 장면, 그리고 그 모습을 보고 조이가 베스트프렌드 챈들러를 위해 "오픈 더 박스" 하던 장면이 꽤나 뭉클합니다. 

During Thanksgiving dinner, Joey punishes Chandler for kissing Kathy by sentencing him to a “time out" inside a crate, for the same duration as when Joey was stuck in the entertainment unit in an earlier episode. Joey finally relents when he witnesses Kathy breaking up with Chandler, who is still inside the crate and resists responding in spite of the situation. Joey ultimately gives Chandler and Kathy his approval and prompts the former to chase after the latter. Ross is shocked to learn that Rachel exchanges every gift she is given, but she shows Ross that she keeps things that matter. Monica becomes infatuated with Richard’s son, Timothy, who is also an eye doctor, when she has an appointment with him after accidentally getting some ice into her eye. Monica and Timothy later kiss, though the former reveals that the kiss reminds her of Richard and both get disgusted soon afterwards.
