프렌즈 시즌7 : 2화 영어표현 put one's foot down, take it from me, made for each other

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 8회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 구동사도 추가했지요. 처음에는 10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 7: 2화 "불타는 레이첼" 줄거리 ▼

레이첼의 침대에서 자려던 조이는 야한 소설을 발견하고 내내 레이첼을 놀립니다. 챈들러와 모니카는 결혼을 준비하면서 결혼자금을 지원받기 위해 모니카의 부모님과 만나는데요. 해변 별장에 돈을 다 써버렸다는 얘기를 듣고 실망합니다. 그러나 챈들러가 어느정도 돈을 모았다는 사실을 알게되자, 모니카는 결혼식에 그 돈을 다 써버리자고 제안합니다. 하지만 챈들러는 미래를 위해 번 돈이라 안된다며 단호합니다. 결국 모니카는 챈들러에게 사과를 하며 그가 모은 돈을 쓸수없다고 얘기하고, 반대로 챈들러는 모니카에게 자신이 모은 돈을 결혼식에 쓰자고 얘기합니다. 두 사람은 그렇게 화해합니다.

 

Monica is devastated that her parents have spent her entire wedding fund to build their beach cottage. She soon perks up after learning that Chandler has just enough money to pay for her dream wedding. However, Chandler's refusal to use all the money on their wedding instead of saving it for their future causes an argument between the two. Joey teases Rachel after finding an erotic novel that she is reading. Phoebe temporarily moves into Ross's apartment and brings all her massage clients to the apartment, much to Ross’s dismay. However, when an attractive woman shows up for a drop-in appointment while Phoebe is gone, Ross pretends to be a masseuse, only to discover that the client is her father instead of her. Ross’s unprofessional behaviour during the massage costs Phoebe one of her loyal clients.

Chandler: Yeah, I'm putting my foot down.
