프렌즈 시즌8: 11화 영어 표현 Where is this relationship going?

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 8회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 구동사도 추가했지요. 처음에는 10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 8: 11화 "날뛰는 호르몬" 줄거리 ▼

임신한 레이첼은 호르몬 때문에 모든 남자들이 매력적으로 보입니다. 챈들러는 상사 더그는 몬들러 커플과 저녁 약속을 잡으려고 하는데, 모니카는 더그를 싫어하는 눈치입니다. 결국 챈들러는 더그에게 거짓말까지 하게 되는데요. 모나는 로스와 홀리데이 카드를 만들면 어떠냐고 아이디어를 내고, 로스가 탐탁지 않아하자 둘의 관계가 어디쯤 온 건지 묻습니다.

 

Ross is uncomfortable when Mona wants to send out joint Christmas cards and wants to have "the talk". Chandler tries to get out of spending time with his boss. Rachel's pregnancy hormones leave her "erotically charged", or as Phoebe calls it, the "Evander Holyfield" phase.

Just so you know, we're not seeing him tomorrow. (챈들러의 상사 더그가 내일 약속을 잡자니까 챈들러에게 조용히 거절의사를 밝히는 모니카)
You know, like, where are we? Where is this relationship going? (아직 카드를 보낼만한 관계가 아닌것 같다는 로스의 이야기에 우리는 어디쯤이냐고 묻는 모나)
Hey, Ross. How's it going with you and Mona. You guys still together? (로스에게 모나와 여전히 사귀냐고 묻는 레이첼)
Hey, you were a closed book, okay? I'm not a mind reader! (로스도 과거에 레이첼과 사귀면서 어디쯤 온건지 묻었다는 레이첼의 이야기에 버럭 성질내며 레이첼에게 대답하는 로스)
Well, I can't say. I'm altogether surprised. (모니카랑 헤어졌다니까 놀라지도 않았다는 더그) altogether:  완전히, 전적으로
How do I put this? 이걸 어떻게 말해야 할까? (레이첼)
I mean, there's no point in spending time with someone if it's just fun. I mean, it's got to be going somewhere, right? So where is it going? ("where is this relationship going" 이라고 물은 모나에게 이야기하는 로스) 
I thought we were moving forward. And now you're sending me all these mixed signals. What are you trying to tell me? (진도 나간줄 알았더니mixed signal 을 보내는 로스에게 무슨 말이 하고싶은건지 묻는 모나)
