프렌즈 시즌1: 11화 영어 표현 beam with pride, spell something out

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 9회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 구동사도 추가했지요. 처음에는 10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 1: 11화 "엄마와 아들 사이" 줄거리 ▼

로스는 이탈리안 가이 파울로와 사귀는 레이첼의 모습을 보며 속상해 하고, 그와 대화를 나누던 챈들러의 엄마와 엉겹결에 키스를 합니다. 그 모습을 조이가 보고, 결국 챈들러에게 그 사실을 털어놓습니다. 모니카와 피비는 잘생긴 남자를 보고 휘파람을 불었다가 그가 차에 치여서 코마 상태에 빠지는 바람에 그의 간호를 합니다. 그리고 그가 여느 남자들과 다른 사람이길 바라죠.

Chandler's flamboyant romance-novelist mother, Nora Bing (Morgan Fairchild), visits. At a restaurant with her and all the friends, Ross upset over Rachel and Paolo, drinks too much. He is comforted by Nora, who offers sage advice though it leads to them kissing. Joey sees them and later says that Ross has to tell Chandler. Monica and Phoebe see an attractive guy on the street; when Monica shouts after him, the guy turns and is hit by a car. While he is hospitalized in a coma, the girls take turns caring for him, then begin competing. When he wakes up, he blows them both off. Ross tells Chandler that he kissed his mother. Chandler is upset, but forgives him, and finally confronts his mother about her behavior and other issues. Rachel tries writing her own romance novel.

I don't know. I've been standing here spelling it out for you. 챈들러와 미스 겔러의 이야기를 문 앞에서 엿듣던 조이는 로스에게 그가 들은 사실을 알리고, 로스는 그래서 어떻게 됐는지  묻는다. 이에 조이가 나도 몰라 나 지금 여기 서서 너한테 자세히 알려주고 있잖아 하며 대꾸한다
