• Mr. President: Just so we're clear. If I refuse to allow these people to enter the country, the rest of the governors will get behind me? 
• Governor Nichols: A majority, Mr. President. At that point, no one would want to be left out in the cold. 주지사와 협상을 하는 대통령. 당분간 난민 전부를 포기해야 자신들의 지지를 얻을 수 있을거라고 제안한다
• *get behind someone/something: to support somebody or something.
  
• *leave someone out in the cold: to not allow someone to become part of a group or an activity.

• Deputy Director : You know, these unexpected meetings are becoming a habit.
• Congressman: Yeah. I'm sorry. I know you have your hands full with the Nassar investigation. And on top of that, I understand the FBI's been asked to vet me for VP. So let me save the bureau some resources. 하원의원이 FBI 부국장을 찾아와 자신에 대한 자료를 건내준다. 
• *on top of something: On top of is also used to mean in addition to, esp. something unpleasant.
  

 

• Mr. Ambassador: Russia is a free country, Mr. President. Perhaps Mr. Weston simply chose to remain in Moscow.  When you've been at the game of international chess for more than a month, you'll understand these things.
• Mr. President: Well, I may have been in over my head today, but I promise you, I'm a quick study. And the one thing that I do know about chess is that there is nothing more dangerous than a pawn that thinks it's a queen. 대통령 커크먼은 러시아 대사와 이중 스파이였던 CIA 정보원에대해 이야기한다
• *in over your head : 감당할 수 없어. 버거워. (내 키보다 더 깊은 물속에 들어가 있는 상태를 말함. 수면 아래에 머리가 잠겨 감당하기 어려운, 힘든 상황에 처해 있는 것을 말할 때 쓰는 표현)
  *be in over your head: to be involved in a difficult situation that you cannot get out of.

• *something is handed to someone on a plate: said to mean that someone is given something desirable without having to work for it or make an effort to get it.

• Emily : Um.. Look, I think I'm gonna be pretty swamped here, so I'm gonna have to take a rain check.
