프렌즈 시즌4: 16화 영어 표현 care for a cherry

시트콤 <프렌즈>로 영어공부 하신다고요?  저는 7회차 정주행하며 배우고 있습니다. 처음엔 자막없이 리스닝만 했고, 그 다음으로는 영어 자막을 켜고 봤어요. 이제는 쉐도잉을 하면서 어휘도 찾아봅니다. 한 편의 드라마를 일곱번이나 반복했는데도 영어를 제대로 구사하지 못한다는게 꽤 답답하지만 그만큼 언어를 배우는데 시간이 오래 걸린다는 걸 생각하면 나름 잘하고 있구나 마음을 다잡습니다. 

 

이번 포스팅은 프렌즈 시즌4 :16화 에서 '알아두면 좋을 표현'입니다.

시즌 4: 16화 "가짜 송별회" 줄거리 ▼

에밀리는 로스와 이곳저곳을 놀러다니면서 뉴욕 여행을 즐깁니다. 레이첼은 조슈아를 유혹하기 위해 가짜 송별회를 준비하고, 에밀리는 서프라이즈 파티가 처음이라면서 즐거워합니다. 레이첼은 조슈아를 위해 옷도 갈아입고, 치어복장으로 응원도 하다가, 망신만 당하고, 조슈아가 간다고 하다가 결국은 솔직하게 자신의 마음을 털어놓게 됩니다. 

 * 이 에피소드에서는조슈아를 자신의 남자친구를 만들기 위한 레이첼의 노력이 필사적인데요. 실제로 치어리딩 할 때는 정말 멋졌죠. 생긋 웃으면서, 레디, 오케이~ 김미 더 이, 김미 더 엠, 김미 더 ~ 에밀리~ 아아아앆. 입을 다치고 나서도 포기 안하고 한 번더 조슈아를 유혹하기 위해 브라를 벗으려는 그녀의 노력이 가상했답니다. 결국 그녀의 진심이 전해져서 다행이죠. 사랑이 뭐길래 참...^^

Phoebe’s pregnancy causes her to crave meat despite being a devout vegetarian. She seeks Joey for advice and he decides to sacrifice his meat consumption in order to balance out the amount of meat that Phoebe eats. Meanwhile, Ross wants to spend as much time with Emily as possible before she returns to London. However, Rachel throws a fake surprise goodbye party for Emily as a ruse to invite Joshua, thereby disrupting Ross's more intimate farewell plans.

but actually it turned out to be really interesting.

Chandler: What are you talking about?

Joey: What's going on?
무슨 일인데?

Rachel: We have to have a surprise 
bon-voyage party for Emily.
에밀리를 위한 깜짝 송별회를 할 거야
But it's actually for Joshua.
실은 조슈아를 위한 거지만

Look, he said he's not ready to date.
누군가를 만날 준비가 덜 됐다길래

So I had to invite him to a party
if  I wanted to see him outside work.
따로 만나려면 파티 핑계를 댈 수 밖에 없었어

And now I have created
the perfect opportunity to seduce him.
이 파티를 기회 삼아 조슈아를 내 남자로 만들거야
