프렌즈 시즌5: 16화 영어 표현 add up, crank it up a notch, worth the wait

 

시트콤 <프렌즈>로 영어공부 하신다고요? 저도요.
10회 시청을 목표로 7회차 정주행 중인데요. 처음엔 무자막, 그 다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉하고, 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있어요.
이렇게 봐도 봐도 재밌고, 새롭게 보이는 부분도  있고, 아직도 배우는 부분이 있다는 게 놀랍기도 한데요. 그만큼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만해요. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 공유할게요. ^^

시즌 5: 16화 "경찰이 된 피비" 줄거리 ▼

배지를 발견해서 경찰 행세를 하고 다니던 피비는 배지의 주인을 만나고, 로스가 소파를 옮기면서 벌어지는 에피소드가 정말 재밌는 회차입니다. 특히 로스가 Pivot, pivot,pivot 외치는 거 들어보셔야 됩니다...ㅋㅋㅋ

Phoebe finds a police badge at the coffeehouse and has fun pretending to be a cop – until she pulls it on the owner, a cop named Gary (Michael Rapaport). He later asks her out for dinner. Ross buys a new couch, but refuses to pay the huge delivery charge. Ross soon wishes he had paid the fee as he and Rachel struggle to get the couch up to his apartment. Joey is upset after having a romantic dream about Monica. However, Monica assures him it is only because he wants a serious relationship similar to Monica and Chandler's.

Joey: Say, Rachel?
Let me ask you something.
I was just over there
talking with Monica and Chandler,
And boy, they are really tight.

Rachel: I know.

Joey: Yeah. That's not
a bad situation they got going over there.

Thinking of getting me one of those.

Something didn't quite add up there. (커플이 아니라고 말하자 웃는 소파 판매점 직원)
*add up: to seem reasonable or likely. 말이 되다.
Oh, but once you find it. Oh, it's so worth the wait. (새로운 친구를 사귀고 교제하는데 시간이 오래걸리지 않냐고 조이가 묻자 레이첼이 대답한다)
I'd like to return this couch. I'm not satisfied with it. (소파 반으로 부셔먹고 샵가서 반품하려는 로스)
