프렌즈 시즌5 : 18화 영어 표현 take credit for, rue the day, tag-along

시트콤 <프렌즈>로 영어공부 하신다고요? 저도 그렇습니다. 10회 시청을 목표로 7회 차 정주행 중입니다. 처음엔 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하고, 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다.
이렇게 봐도 봐도 재밌고, 새롭게 보이는 부분도  있고, 아직도 배우는 부분이 있다는 게 놀랍기도 한데요. 그만큼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 공유합니다. ^^

시즌 5: 18화 "성공의 향기" 줄거리 ▼
벤은 공원에서 산책하다 디렉터로부터 오디션 제안을 받습니다. 이를 본 조이는 부러워 하죠. 광고에 아빠 역할도 필요하다는 것을 안 조이는 오디션을 함께 보기로합니다. 모니카와 피비는 레이첼의 깜짝 생일 파티 준비에 한창입니다. 피비에게 얼음과 컵 담당을 맡기고 나머지는 모니카가 담당하게 되고요.  레이첼은 동료들과 어울리기 위해 흡연 공간에 공기를 맡으러 갔다가 끝내 담배를 피우게 됩니다.  벤의 오디션에 따라간 조이는 로스에게 한가지 제안을 하는데요...^^

Rachel attempts smoking to feel more included at work with her boss and co-worker. Joey auditions for a soup commercial with Ben playing his son. When the director pairs Ben with another father, Joey is left in the uncomfortable position of competing with his friend's son. Monica and Phoebe plan Rachel's birthday party, but when Monica takes over, leaving Phoebe in charge of only cups and ice, Phoebe goes all out.

Joey: That's it?
You're going to let me do this?
This is my career
we're talking about here.

Ross: But you just--

Joey: I just said that
so you wouldn't let Ben do it.
Look, Ross, if anyone should step aside,
it should be Ben.

Ross: What? why?

Joey: Chandler, tell him.

Chandler: Well, let me get the door first.
Oh, hi no one.
(챈들러가 문을 열고 나간다)

Ross: Why sould Ben step aside?
It was his audition in the first place.
You just tagged along.
You're like the tag-along dad.

Joey: At least I care about his feelings.

Ross: Maybe you messed up
because you care more about your godson.

Joey: What do you mean?

Ross: I think, subconsciously--

Joey: Whoa, you lost me.

Ross: I think, on some level,
you sabotaged your own audition
so Ben would get the part.

Joey: Well, your way sounds a lot better than mine.
Yeah. It's not that I'm a bad actor.
