프렌즈 시즌 6: 9화 영어 표현 trick into

시트콤 <프렌즈>로 영어공부 하신다고요? 저도 그렇습니다. 10회 시청을 목표로 7회 차 정주행 중입니다. 처음엔 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하고, 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다.
이렇게 봐도 봐도 재밌고, 새롭게 보이는 부분도  있고, 아직도 배우는 부분이 있다는 게 놀랍기도 한데요. 그만큼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 공유합니다. ^^

시즌 6: 9화 "로스의 양심 고백" 줄거리 ▼
추수감사절을 맞아 분주한 모니카. 부모님을 초대했지만 아직 챈들러와의 동거 사실을 밝히지 않았습니다. 부모님이 챈들러를 싫어하기 때문인데요. 챈들러는 모니카의 부모님에게 잘 보이기 위해 로스에게 물어보지만 빈정거리기 때문이라는 성의없는 답변을 줍니다.

재닌은 댄서 친구들과의 파티에  로스와 조이를 초대합니다. 그들은 흔쾌히 수락하고요. 레이첼은 디저트를 담당해서 영국식 트리플을 만들고, 재닌의 파티에 가려는 로스와 조이로 인해 여자 친구들은 못마땅하게 생각합니다.

모니카의 부모님이 오시고, 예상대로 챈들러를 좋아하지 않습니다. 로스와 조이는 레이첼의 디저트가 바나나와 고기가 섞인 요상한 음식이라는 걸 알게 되고, 레이첼이 상처받지 않도록 친구들에게 넌지시 알려줍니다. 미리 입단속을 해서 케이크를 먹고 이상한 행동을 하지 말라는 거였죠. 로스는 챈들러를 불러 왜 부모님이 그를 싫어하는 지 알 것 같다고 합니다. 알고보니 과거 로스가 대마초를 피웠던 사실을 챈들어에게 덮어씌웠기 때문인데요. 그 얘기를 들은 모니카와 챈들러는 로스에게 사실대로 말하라고 성을 냅니다. 드디어 로스는 진실을 말하고, 모든 사실을 알게된 갤러 부부는 로스를 대신해서 욕을 먹고도 여전히 친구인 챈들러를 아름다운 인간이라며 칭찬합니다. 

Ross is forced to tell Chandler why Jack and Judy dislike him. While in college, Ross experimented with pot and was found out by his parents but he claimed it was Chandler's pot. Rachel makes dessert, but when the recipe book's pages get stuck together, she combines an English trifle with beef sauteed with peas and onions. Phoebe has a sensual dream about Jack Geller, Monica and Ross' father. Joey and Ross want to skip Monica's Thanksgiving dinner after Janine invites them to hang out with her and her dancer friends.

Monica: Maybe because you used to be aloof,
or that you're really sarcastic
or that you know, you joke around all the time.

and throw them on the couch.

Chandler: Is this why they don't like me
or why you don't like me?

Try rubbing your stomach.
Or, saying. "mmm...."
And smiling.
Okay?

Chandler: Yeah, I'm not gonna pay
for those acting class anymore.
