프렌즈 시즌 8: 5화 if anything, the right chemistry

시트콤 <프렌즈>로 영어공부 하신다고요? 저도 그렇습니다. 10회 시청을 목표로 7회 차 정주행 중입니다. 처음엔 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하고, 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다.
이렇게 봐도 봐도 재밌고, 새롭게 보이는 부분도  있고, 아직도 배우는 부분이 있다는 게 놀랍기도 한데요. 그만큼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. ^^

시즌 8: 5화 "레이첼이 데이트하던 날" 줄거리 ▼
레이첼은 조이의 배우 동료와 데이트를 하고, 로스는 신경 쓰이지 않는다고 말하면서 이를 불편해합니다. 데이트 한 번에 아이의 아버지가 로스가 아닌 다른 사람이 되는 상상까지 할 정도죠. 이런 로스를 조이가 달래줍니다. 로스의 걱정과는 다르게 데이트는 실패로 끝이 나고, 레이첼은 초코바를 가득 사서 집으로 가는 길에 로스를 만나 위로를 받게 됩니다. 로스는 커피 하우스에서 모니카와 챈들러의 결혼식에서 만났던 모나를 마주치게 되어 반갑게 이야기를 나눕니다.

모니카의 주방에서 일하는 수세프를 알게 된 피비는 그와 데이트를 하고, 그가 연인에게 목을 매는 타입이란 걸 알게되어 헤어질 생각을 합니다. 동시에 모니카도 생각보다 일을 못하는 그를 해고할 생각입니다. 과연 누가 먼저 그와 인연을 끊을 것인지를 두고 두 사람은 다툽니다. 결국 동시에 이야기하게 되고, 아쉬워하는 그에게 모니카는 한 번 더 기회를 주지만 피비는 기회를 주지 않습니다. 

Phoebe dates a guy who works for Monica, causing a problem when Phoebe wants to dump him on the same day Monica plans to fire him. Chandler's co-worker thinks his name is Toby. Rachel goes on a date with Joey's costar, Kash (Johnny Messner) despite being pregnant, and much to Ross' annoyance. Ross meets Mona again while at the coffee shop.

Scene 1

Monica: What? So now I'm not allowed to fire him?

Phoebe: We can't fire him and dump him
in the same day. He'll kill himself.

Monica: Okay, well then I'll fire him today,
and you go out with him for another week.

Phoebe: Are you kidding? Another week
with that simp, I'll kill myself.

Ross: Rach, you want to come?

Rachel: Oh, no, I can't. I got a date.

Ross: A date?

Rachel: Yeah. Why is that weird for you?

Ross: Why, no. It's the opposite of weird.
It's, it's regular. It's...
It's mundane.
It's actually a little dull.

Scene 3

Ross: He didn't take it so well?

Rachel: Oh, better than you.
But, you know, still not what you want.

Ross: Oh..

Rachel: Yeah. He got all wired and sputtery.
Then he said...
"Yeah. I hear
those hemorrhoids are a bitch."

Ross: He sounds swell.

Rachel: Doesn't he?

 
Swell:
