프렌즈 시즌8 :13화 영어 표현 you don't say, throw someone a bone

시트콤 <프렌즈>로 영어공부 하신다고요? 저도 그렇습니다. 10회 시청을 목표로 7회 차 정주행 중입니다. 처음엔 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하고, 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다.
이렇게 봐도 봐도 재밌고, 새롭게 보이는 부분도  있고, 아직도 배우는 부분이 있다는 게 놀랍기도 한데요. 그만큼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. ^^

시즌 8: 13화 "챈들러가 물에 빠진 날" 줄거리 ▼

목욕에 빠진 모니카, 그녀에게 자신의 뗏구정물에서 몸을 담그는 게 뭐가 좋냐며 챈들러가 빈정댑니다. 그러다 결국 모니카의 유혹으로 챈들러가 거품 목욕의 세계에 입문하게 됩니다. 곧이어 그 치명적인 매력에 빠져드는데요. 한편, 조이는 챈들러에게 고민이 있다며 자신의 감정을 밝히려다 포기하고,  친구들은 그가 피비를 좋아하는 거라고 오해하게 됩니다. 피비는 조이가 자신을 좋아하는 것인지 떠보려다가 결국 레이첼을 좋아하는 것임을 알게 됩니다. 모든 것을 알게 된 친구들은 챈들러가 목욕하는 곳에 모여서 이야기를 주고받고, 그곳에 방문한 레이첼과 로스에게 아이 성별을 듣게 됩니다...^^

Chandler's dislikes bubble baths but Monica sways him and he soon becomes addicted. Phoebe, who thinks Joey has a crush on her, is shocked that he actually likes Rachel; Ross and Rachel debate over potential baby names and learn the baby's sex.

Monica: Baths are so relaxing.

Candler: Really?
What do you do? You just sit in there
stewing in your own filth.

Monica: How dirty do you think I am?

Ross: Shame on you. Ugly baby judges you.

Rachel: Okay. But Ross,

Ross: No, no. Don't tell me.
I don't wanna know.

Rachel: I couldn't, even if I wanted to,
because I don't know.
I swear I didn't see anything.
And I don't want to know.
It was just a momentary lapse.

Monica: I really shouldn't say.
I'm really not supposed to.

Phoebe: Fine.

Monica: It's a humdinger.

Phoebe: Well, then it's really too bad
that you can't tell me.

Monica: Somebody likes you!

Phoebe: Is it Chandler?

All right, throw me a bone here. (피비에 반해 조이는 한번도 여자친구들에게 반한적이 없다고 하자 속삭인 피비) 
   *throw someone a bone:  to offer (someone) something that is not very important or valuable especially to stop complaints or protests.
  *The boss would not let his workers out early for the holiday but threw them a bone by buying lunch.
