프렌즈 시즌1: 6화 영어 표현 back me up

영어공부 하시나요? 저도 그렇습니다. 시트콤 <프렌즈>를 10회 시청을 목표로 9회 차 정주행 중입니다. 가장 먼저 무자막, 그다음엔 영어 자막, 그리고 영어 자막과 한국어 자막을 켜고 보다가, 쉐도잉 하면서 어휘와 이디엄을 찾고 있습니다. 구동사도 추가했지요. 처음에는 10회 차까지 반복하게 되면 무척 질릴 것이라고 생각했습니다. 분명 그런 시간이 있었지만, 이제는 정이 들어서 또 봐도 재밌고, 여전히 새롭게 보이는 부분이 있고, 시즌10이 끝나면 아쉽기도 합니다. 작별인사 하면서 울기도 몇 번 울었습니다. 이처럼 <프렌즈>와 코드가 어느 정도 맞고, 꼭 반복해서 봐야겠다는 의지가 충만합니다. 서론은 줄이고, 공부하며 알게 된 어휘나 이디엄을 한 회당 3개 정도 공유합니다. :)

시즌 1: 6화 "스타 탄생" 줄거리 ▼

조이는 알파치노의 영화에 엉덩이 역할로 출연합니다. 친구들의 놀림에도 꿋꿋하게 촬영에 임했지만, 지나치게 배역에 열중하는 나머지 잘리고맙니다. 모니카는 모든 게 제자리에 있어야 하는 성격을 이상하게 생각하는 친구들에게 자신이 그렇게 이상한 사람이 아님을 보여주고자 신발을 거실 한 편에 두고와서 잠을 못 이룹니다.

Chandler dates Aurora (Sofia Milos), a beautiful, exotic woman that he soon learns is married and has another boyfriend. Chandler is initially fine having a polyamorous relationship, but is unable to handle yet another lover being added to the mix. Joey's new talent agent, Estelle Leonard, gets him a film role as a stand-in for Al Pacino's butt double. However, he is fired because he "overacts" with it. Rachel cleans the apartment, but triggers Monica's obsessive-compulsive tendencies after moving some furniture around.

Ross: She is a kook.

”Oh, please. Could she be more out of my league? Ross, back me up here.” 극장에서 본 예쁜 여자에게 말 걸고 싶은데 용기가 없고 그녀가 자신의 리그 밖 여성이라고 생각해서 로스에게 맞장구 쳐달라고 하는데 로스가 “He could never get a woman like that in a million years.” 라며 잘 맞장구쳐준다.
So, which one of the two guys will you listen to? 챈들러가 알게된 예쁜 여성, 오로라에게 새로운 남자가 생기고 챈들러는 가지 말라며 관계를 구속하려 한다. 그리고 자신의 마음에는 두가지 버전이 있다면서 그녀에게 솔직하게 이야기 하는데, 오로라는 그 두가지 버전 중에 어떤 버전의 목소리를 들을건지 선택을 묻는다.
Wait a minute. Maybe this wasn't your shot. 조이가 과도한 엉덩이 연기로 해고되고, 6년동안 해왔지만 아무것도 이룬게 없다면서 이번 기회가 한방이 될 줄 알았는데 아니었다고 주눅이 들어 얘기하자, 모니카가가 이건 그 한 방이 아니었을지도 모른다고 얘기한다. 이어서 친구들이 'Your shot'에 대한 조언을 해준다. 로스는 너의 샷이면 네가 알 거라고 얘기하고, 피비는 이건 너의 샷이 아니지만 나중에 샷이 많이 올거라고 미래를 믿으라며 이야기 해준다. 자상한 친구들의 모습이 보인다.
